Family Friendly Denver

Looking for a place to vacation with the entire family? Want a destination that offers activities for family members of all ages? Look no further – Denver has it all! From hiking to swimming to museum touring (and everything in between) Denver is the place to visit.

In Denver proper, you will find an abundance of family friendly adventures. The Denver Zoo is the 4th most popular and boasts the 7th most diverse animal collection in the nation. With all of the animals, a ride-on train and a carousel, the entire family will have fun at the zoo!

If you have not gotten your fill of animals at the zoo, head over to the Denver Downtown Aquarium. Here you will find more than a million gallons of underwater exhibits. There is an interactive Stingray touch tank, an aquarium restaurant, a bar, a gift shop and other amusements for the entire family.

Still want more animal experiences? Denver has a Butterfly Pavilion, a Wild Animal Sanctuary, Buffalo Nature Preserve and much more!

Denver has a great Children’s Museum where children as young as newborns can learn through play. The Denver Museum of Nature and Science will inspire curiosity as you stroll through the many exciting exhibits and as you dig, build and play in the “Discovery Zone” built for the youngest visitors.

Stephanie and Delilah out for a stroll in DenverMany people think of snow when they think of Colorado. While we do have a lot of snow in the mountains, don’t be fooled! The city of Denver actually has a very mild climate that boasts more than 300 days of sunshine a year.  With such great weather, outdoor activities are a must.

Denver has an extensive network of off-street bike trails on which the entire family can ride. Bike rentals are available throughout Denver and the surrounding cities. We also have some really amazing hiking trails, many of which are easy enough for little ones to walk on their own.

If you feel the need to cool down after a long hike, head out to Water World, our water park which was rated as one of America’s top ten water parks by the Travel Channel. We also have amazing white water rafting and many lakes and rivers to play in while you beat the heat.

Six Flags Elitch Gardens, Denver Botanic Gardens, Denver Art Museum, Denver Puppet Theatre, spectator sports (we have all four major league sports), U.S. Mint tours, Red Rocks Amphitheatre and Denver’s Skatepark are just a few more ideas for family entertainment.

While you are experiencing all of this fun, you will need to break and nourish yourselves. Denver has many kid-friendly restaurants. Anthony’s Pizza, Racine’s, Little Man Ice Cream, Snooze Eatery, Casa Bonita are just a few restaurants that can satiate all family members’ hunger.

If all this has you ready to find your way to Denver, visit Denver Metro Area Vacation Rentals to see a variety of housing options available for your stay.

The above suggestions are just a starting point. I’ve not even mentioned the absolutely stunning Rocky Mountains and all the fun that can be had while visiting them. In the interest of keeping this blog entry (relatively) short, I will simply say that a visit to Denver will not disappoint even the harshest of travel critics. From the littlest of travelers to the biggest, all will have a good time!
